Top 5 Tips for Exterior Paint

Like they always say “Don’t judge a book by its cover” In most cases this is the case. The way the exterior of a house looks may bring people either into your home or turn around and walk away. This is why it is very important to keep the front of your house well manicured and up to date!

The colour you choose to paint the exterior is very important too! it may not be your personal favorite however you want to try and choose a colour that goes  with the rest of the neighbourhood.

Here are a couple of things you should do:

1. Do test out the paint, the way you see the colour indoors is different in natural light. Bring the colour outside on a white board

2. Paint the trims a bright white, who ever mixes your paint as them to add a drop of blue or black to the paint. This will make the paint more bright and last longer. It will give the exterior a fresh crisp look.

3. Keep the other neighbours colours in mind, yes you want to be unique however you don’t want to stick out like a sore thumb, don’t go painting your garage doors bright neon yellow! After All your all a part of the overall streetscape of the neighbourhood.

4. Don’t paint any types of vinyl siding, coats and coats of paint can ruin the vinyl causing it to warp which will ruin the paint job.

5. Painting a home requires a lot of preparation, time and patience. If you don’t think you can commit yourself to the job, hire a professional to do it for you.
