Top 4 Fitness Myths I hear Over and Over Again!
1. Tons of cardio is the most effective way to lose body fat. FALSE!
To much cardio will strip away muscle and body fat. This is definitely not the most effective method to lose body fat. Once you begin stripping muscle tissue, your body becomes less efficient at burning body fat. Muscle is metabolically active, which simply means it stimulates the metabolism.
Each pound of muscle you put on your body, you will burn up to 50 additional calories per day. If you strip muscle tissue, all you accomplish is destroying your efforts to efficiently reduce body fat. You want to do cardio 4-6 times a week, in terms of intensity you may want to try interval training. Interval training is a great way to kick start your body and get it out of a fitness rut if your in one.m
2. Woman will get muscles as big as guy if she lifts heavier weight. FALSE!
This myth never seems to go away. Women have approximately one-third of the testosterone of a man. Unless she decides to use anabolic steroids, growth hormone or other enhancing drugs, a woman will never achieve the muscular size of a man. However, she can get a degree of muscularity that makes her lean, toned and tight. In order to achieve the toned lean muscle, you must include a variety of heavy and light weight in your routine. For example pyramid training allows you to do this starting off with heavy then down to light weight for burn outs!

3. Lifting lighter weights will make your muscles more defined and toned. FALSE!
Like mentioned in point number two. Muscle responds to overload. If you lift heavier weight with sufficient intensity, you will create more microscopic tears in the muscle. When the muscle recuperates, it will become tighter and stronger. Therefore if your doing a set of 4 start off with a heavy set for set 4 and 3. Set 2 should be moderate weight then your last set can be light but with higher reps, the burn you will feel will be incredible!.
4.The best way to reduce the hips, glutes or abs is to perform exercise to isolate the area. FALSE!
It is absolutely impossible to spot reduce. You can’t lose only in one area of the body because body fat comes off all over the body. Typically, the first place you tend to gain is the last place you lose. The only way to loose inches in those stubborn areas is you have to workout your whole body, a combination of some good cardio routines, nutrition, and weight training you will be on a healthy road to success. This will not happen over night but a healthy pound a week will let you see some results in no time.
